BORG 1.7.1 has been released on Sourceforge.

BORG 1.7.1 is a minor release. The main features are:

- an undo feature so that you can undo silly (and possibly tragic) mistakes
- the optional backup on shutdown now backs up to a uniquely named/timestamped zip file. The old method of keeping a single set of backup files was prone to overwriting good backups with bad at the worst times. Now each backup creates a new file.
- an easy way to right click on the calendar to add a todo
- a fix to the nasty problem with the Run SQL feature.

There are no special upgrade instructions.

Note: the undo feature will not bring back deleted attachments or links.

Some undocumented changes:

- added some junit tests for the undo feature and a way to run unit tests in a memory-only db for future testing. I wish that I had been doing test-driven development from the start.
- continued to clean up the UI code by removing some of the auto-generated gridbag mess. I regret the day that I ever used a UI builder on BORG. There is still a lot of hideous generated UI code remaining to be cleaned up.

I've found a bug with the Run SQL feature. The bug is described here.

The bug was introduced in 1.6.1b3 (12/2007) when the SQL output was improved and is in 1.6.1b3, 1.6.1 final, and 1.7.

Very few people use Run SQL, but for those that occasionally do, stop using it.

A 1.7 update will be posted shortly to the snapshot builds section of this website.

I won't be putting out a sourceforge release just yet.

TicketMaven 1.3.0.2 is available for download free of charge for all customers.

The new features in this release are:

• Table Seating for Shows with a graphical layout editor to design your layouts
• Discount Packages - to sell packages of shows at a discount
• Profit/Loss Report for Shows based on Show cost and ticket sales
• The ability to Print the auditorium seat grid screens
• Placement of the main tabs on the left side of the screen for easier navigation (optional)
• Bug fixes

The upgrade to release 1.3.0.2 is optional. It is recommended that all customers use either release 1.2.0.4 or release 1.3.0.2 Use the About TicketMaven menu item under the Help menu to check your current release. Simple BORG 1.7 has been released on sourceforge.

Simple BORG 1.7 is BORG with about 1/3 of the least used features taken out and some new features added.

*** WARNING ***: Simple BORG 1.7 does not support the Local Files DB and the Remote Server. Only HSQLDB, MySQL, and generic JDBC are supported. HSQLDB is recommended and is the only DB that BORG creates automatically.

BORG 1.7 requires Java 6 in order to get a system tray icon. The old JDIC tray icon and all the problems that is caused are gone.

*** NOTE ***: There is no automatic database conversion between BORG 1.6 and 1.7, you must export your 1.6 database to XML and import it into a new, empty BORG 1.7 database.

The BORG source code has been greatly reduced in size in 1.7. It has also been updated to use Java generics.

The Simple BORG source branch is definitely the branch to use for developers that want to work with the source. The BORG 1.6 branch is simply too bloated to be easily maintained at this point. 

BORG 1.6.1 Final has been released on SourceForge.
